CranioSacral Therapy
Many believe that a light, gentle touch can provide more healing than all the medications in the world. I certainly subscribe to that theory.
As a CranioSacral therapist, I firmly believe that a gentle touch by a knowledgeable hand is needed to start the process of healing. I have been working as a CranioSacral therapist since I began my practice, and I have seen fast effective healing results using this advanced technique.
"Dr. Minond and CranioSacrral therapy have both made such a difference in my life. As one who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome, I feel tired and achy all the time. In addition, I am always stressed and carry a ton of tension in my neck.
When I first came to Dr. Minond, I sat and cried for over half an hour. The amazing thing is that Dr. Minond sat there and listened to me cry.
When he started treatment, I was astonished. I was expecting it to be painful. Instead, it was like a long, relaxing, yet invigorating, trip to the spa.
Dr. Minond has taught to better manage my stress also. I no longer feel my shoulders bunching up into balls of tension.
Never before have I had a doctor who was as compassionate and caring as Dr. Minond."

What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy is a therapy treatment that seeks to cure and treat a large number of different sensory, neurological, and motor disorders. I have held to the belief for years, that in order to cure a patient of any disorder, the following must be practiced:
- Stress-free living and working environment, although at times this can be difficult
- Refraining from bad habits such as nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol
However, there resides within the body, an internal, self-healing function. How else is the body able to ward off colds, heal cuts, or fight infection? I believe that CranioSacral treatment aids this process, in some cases, even speeding up the healing capabilities of the body.
For over 35 years, CranioSacral Therapy, or CST, has worked well as a therapy for numerous medical problems that are often associated with body pain and loss of muscle and nerve function. CST works by relieving tension that is contained in the central nervous system. By using a very gentle, non-forceful technique, I am able to manipulate, with light pressure, the bones of the head, spine, and pelvis. This manipulation works to alleviate pressure from the nervous system as mentioned above.

Because the nervous system controls every function of our body, including muscles, food digestion, circulation, and even our state of mind, CST enables the body to enter a relaxed state that starts the self-healing process. The central nervous system is composed of fluid and membranes that surround and protect the spine and the brain.
It is also composed of the attached bones that make up the cranium, including the skull and face. The sacrum area which is mainly composed of the tailbone also holds the base of the spine. Because the central nervous system makes up such a wide part of the body, it should be easy to see how the CranioSacral system is able to influence such a wide variety of functions of the body.
CranioSacral Healing
First, I must point out that during treatment, I, myself, do not determine what changes and adjustments need to be made. By using a feather-light touch and gentle pressure, I am able to detect the cues given by your body.
I simply follow what your body tells me and make the needed corrections. I start by determining the rhythms your cranium is already following. I then create a point to follow and slowly and gently address each area of the craniosacrum. The entire process takes about an hour and my patients tell me it is as relaxing and energizing as a trip to the spa.
Benefits of CranioSacral Healing
CST has been shown to treat many different conditions including brain and spinal cord injuries sustained in traumatic accidents, headaches, including migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome, debilitating back pain and neck pain, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, also referred to as TMJ, orthopedic problems such as hip and knee pain, and problems related to stress and tension. Although the main focus of CST is to find the source of the problem and cure it, relief of symptoms is generally reached also.
I am frequently asked by patients who begin a course of CranioSacral Therapy how long the therapy will take. I have to tell them that the number of sessions needed and length of time to healing depends on several factors.
The main factor is how long it takes me to get through the many different and complex layers of injury and possible trauma that may not only mask the cause of the problem, but may also build up heavily over the body's own innate defense mechanisms.
Because CST is both effective and gentle, my patients state that they not only have more energy and feel better, but that they also are sick much less often than they were prior to therapy, and that they sleep much better at night.
CST patients rarely suffer from insomnia. Often, I have patients that use CST as part of their general health and wellness programs. CST has also had success in treating patients who suffer from immune disorders such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia. I use it to treat several patients who suffer from Gulf War Syndrome, and they have told me that CST works better than any other treatment they have tried.
While the majority of mainstream doctors and practitioners of what is deemed "traditional medicine" can't seem to explain the exact science behind CST, I see many of my patients who benefit from the therapy.
In addition to offering CST to my chiropractic patients and wellness patients, I also offer my services as a CranioSacral Chiropractor to patients who suffer from degenerating diseases of the hips and spine who are not considered candidates for surgery or who wish to explore and try all non-surgical options.
CST is a safe, holistic approach to healing that I and my staff are well-trained in. There are very few reports of adverse reactions to CST in the over 35 years that it has been widely practiced in the United States.
